Heading here? A Guide to The John Smith’s Stadium Accessibility

16/07/2024

The John Smith’s Stadium is known for its passionate atmosphere but if you’re planning a trip to the ground and have accessibility concerns, fret not! The stadium boasts several features to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.

Getting here

Situated just on the outskirts of Huddersfield town centre, The John Smith’s Stadium is well-connected by road and rail. Coming from Leeds or Manchester? The journey by train is a breeze, taking roughly 20 and 30 minutes respectively.

By car, the stadium is easily accessible from the M62 and M1 motorways, and if you’re heading here by bus – Huddersfield Bus Station is a short distance away, with buses 202 and 203 stopping just a 5-minute walk from the stadium.

Other than on matchdays, the stadium has free parking for customers and visitors in our St Andrew’s Road and Town Avenue Car Parks.

Accessible parking

For visitors with Blue Badges, dedicated parking is available. There are 38 designated bays in total, with 17 offering wider spaces and lowered access. The car park itself provides step-free access to the stadium via a footbridge over the River Colne.

Matchday manoeuvres

The stadium itself prioritises accessibility. Upon arrival, clear signage guides you towards accessible entrances. Inside the stadium, there are 399 designated easy-access and amenity seats spread across every stand.  These can be requested when booking your tickets through the Ticket Office.

Additional considerations

The John Smith’s Stadium offers accessible toilets throughout the concourse. Additionally, Huddersfield Town has recently introduced accessible tours, allowing supporters with all abilities to get a behind-the-scenes look at the stadium.
